CORE BUSINESS

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) launched by the University of Luxembourg (UL) targets research and PhD education in Security, Reliability and Trust. The overall aim of SnT is to become a European centre of excellence and innovation for secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services. To create an impact, an interdisciplinary research approach is essential, taking not only technical aspects into account but also addressing business/ organizational, human/user, and legal/regulatory issues.

SnT aims to achieve high impact and excellence by collaborating with external partners such as industries, government bodies, institutions, and international actors. Research activities are carried out through interdisciplinary research platforms targeting key areas of strategic importance for the region:

Enterprise Security targeting the financial and banking industry.

Services, Content and e-Government targeting content and service providers, government agencies and media intense industry.

Communication and Network Infrastructure targeting network and infrastructure providers and operators.

The SnT research activities in Satellite Systems includes: Applications and Services, Satellite Hybrid Networks, Transmission and Reception Technologies, Legal and Regulatory Challenges.

TECHNICAL MEANS

The laboratory infrastructure of SnT allows research results to be realized as prototypes, demonstrations, test beds or through proof-ofconcept implementations.

Communication system simulation and evaluation environment.

MAIN CUSTOMERS

Over 50% of the turnover stems from competitive research funding (ESA, EU, FNR, and Industry). In the SnT Partnership Program, members contribute to the centre at all levels, in the governance with representation on the Advisory Board, in the strategy and planning on the Industrial Advisory Board and in the operations with participation in research projects.
